About us

The Education Issue is a new annual newspaper spotlighting the education challenges faced in communities around the world. Written, designed and published by Theirworld Global Youth Ambassadors, it gives them the platform to amplify the barriers and solutions to schooling children and young people face.

The Global Youth Ambassador programme has a network of more than 2000 young people, aged 18-30, from over 140 countries around the world. They are supported to advocate for education, taking their experiences and knowledge from their own communities to powerholders, making the case to unlock big change everywhere.

Recognising the powerful role storytelling plays in effective advocacy and awareness raising, Theirworld launched a pilot journalism project in 2025 to support young people interested in a career in journalism to begin building their skills in capturing the stories around them. This was done through a bespoke training plan and 1:1 support with reporters at Pioneers Post, a UK-based social enterprise magazine.

In the first edition of The Education Issue, ten Global Youth Ambassadors use personal storytelling to shine a light on the education challenges their communities face. Each story explores the barriers, centres around those most impacted and looks to the solutions being implemented to ensure every child has the best start in life, a safe place to learn and the skills they need for the future.

The first edition was launched and its content displayed in an exhibition event in New York during the United Nations General Assembly in September 2025. All pieces produced by the young journalists can be found on our website and in our limited edition print copies.
