“I grew up watching my dad constantly learn new things to support his passion for educating children with disabilities. His transition from a teacher in a mainstream school to a special educational needs teacher showed me what is possible when one believes in possibility. Education is a right for every child and they deserve to learn in a way that works best for them. This is why inclusive education matters. Every learner has their own unique path and deserves the opportunity to develop their potential.
Working on The Education Issue has strengthened my belief that education is far more than classrooms and schools. It is about people, inclusion and providing a safe place to learn for every child. Education influences every aspect of society, from economic growth and gender equality to social justice. Every story reminds us that investing in quality and inclusive education is investing in our collective future. One of the biggest challenges in reporting this story was encountering the realities of education inequality firsthand. Listening to the experiences of educators, parents and the communities was both eye-opening and emotionally challenging. The conversations revealed how learning barriers continue to prevent many children from accessing quality education. I hope readers leave with an understanding that education challenges are solvable when governments, communities, educators and young people work together.
